British DJ and producer. Born: 4 September 1969 in Bangor, Gwynedd, Wales, UK. A well-renowned DJ and production figure in trance and progressive house circles, Sasha became famous in the late 1980s and early 1990's for residencies at clubs like Shelley's (Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England), (Manchester, England), and most notably ('Venue 44' in Mansfield, England; later 'The Conservatory', Derby, England). At Renaissance, he formed a now famous longterm DJ partnership with (as ), one continued for many years, and they produced the first major commercially released studio-produced DJ mix ' (1994) – now largely considered a pioneering release of its time. In the early-to-mid 1990s, he produced several productions of his own and did remixes for, and the, amongst others.

In 1999, he formed a new partnership in the studio with (one half of ) and released the ' (1999), and the full-length album ' (2002). In 1997 he founded and ran the now defunct label, later followed in 2007 by, a new label for his own recordings. In late 2011 he launched his new digital imprint. Not many djs can build a room as perfectly, no matter how sideways he might have been he was always flawless. In 93 whilst in Australia (Elevation in Perth I think) a sneaky promoter hooked up not one but two tape decks to record his set the first tape deck was fairly obvious with a bit of looking but the second was hidden deep in the back & I watched Alex find both and stop them during the opening minutes of his set. I would also like to mention that Tom Frederikse had a huge hand in Sasha's early days. Sasha is to djing what Plato is to philosophy, what Pele is to football, what led zeppelin are to rock.a harbinger, precursor, a forerunner, above everything else.a living legend.

Sasha was born in 1969 in North Wales UK. Became famous in the late 80's and early 90's for residencies at clubs like Shelly's, the Hacienda, and most notably Renaissance. At Renaissance, formed a now-famous DJ partnership with John Digweed which continues to the present day. In the early- to mid-90's, turned out several productions of his own and did remixes for Urban Soul, M People, Creative Thieves and the Pet Shop Boys, among others. In 1999, he formed a new partnership in the studio with Charlie May (one half of Spooky) and released the 'Xpander' EP, and in 2002, the full-length album 'Airdrawndagger'. In 1997 he founded and ran the now defunct Excession label. In 2007 he started emFire, a new label for his own recordings.

In late 2011 he launched his new digital imprint Last Night On Earth, his glittering CV is endless, it speaks for itself. The Guy is a Genuine Legend. Longevity in the rat race which is the International DJ Circuit proves that on its own.

The Early Sasha Tapes. Still played to death today. Sasha @ the Eclipse, The Hacienda, Shelly's, Angels, Kinetic & Kaos.

The Blend of the Italian Imports, rush creating accapellas with the UK house really was a golden age of The Scene for me, and a Blue print that lives on in the Northwest and Northeast even still today. His ear for a Tune is impeccable. Just look through his late 80s early 90s playlist on here and look how sought after and valuable nearly every tune is. His taste has really stood the test of time.

It has kept 1000s of us Marvelling at his quality for over 20 years. Maybe his production IS better when he is collaborating, but lets not forget he is first and foremost a DJ.

And in my opinion the Best There Was, the best there is and the best there will ever be. A total crowd pleaser and Genius. So here's to A Man Like DJ Sasha.

I'm sitting here listening to CD1 of Northern Exposure 2, still blown away by it after all this time but I have to say, in my own opinion, Sasha peaked (at his peak he was untouchable for creative mixing) in the 1990's. Since then, Involver was very good, Airdrawndagger was mediocre, Fundacion was poor and Invol2ver was boring! The genre of dance music which allowed him to exploit his DJ'ing abilities is dead!

Other DJ's have made a much better job of Ableton than Sasha. Try Joris Voorn Balance 13. Back in 1990 i went to a club in stoke to hear a dj who we were told was pretty good.

20 years later i still make the effort to pick up all of his releases. I'm completely hooked on his sound and find i can trust him to produce something that I'll always want to listen too over and over again. I still listen to a tape we picked up of his from nov 1990 to this day having digitized it a few years ago fearing the tape would eventually break. His original productions are great and his remixes are truly seminal pieces of work, (someday by m people and u'r the best thing by d'ream etc show this i feel) but its his dj'ing that really puts him at the front of the pack for me. His ability to read a crowd and pick his tracks accordingly allow him to create amazing sets that just simply never age which is something you can't say about some of his peers who while competent and talented aren't up to his standard when it comes to creating a journey in sound.

In my opinion he's a genius in this field and has been since from day one when he was honing his technical skills in the midlands/north of england. Long live Sasha.
