How To Install Riven On Windows Vista
I am running it on Win7 Ultimate 64-bit. I also had some trouble getting it to run initially and don't know for sure why it started working. There was a patch released from MS about 4 weeks ago that had to do with some kind of generic application compatibility. I was in the middle of learning how to install/run XP compatibility mode when I suspect that this patch fixed the problem for me.
Anyone have anything that can help me install Riven on windows 8? When i put it in to my laptop, the installation window pops up and i click. The default directory is 'C: Program Files Riven.' Right-click the 'Mohawk.w32' file in the Riven directory, and select 'Open With.' Select 'Notepad' from the list of programs, then click 'OK.' This will allow you to edit the 'Mohawk.w32' file in Notepad. Locate the line that reads 'fEnableAudioProxy=true' in the file, then change it to 'fEnableAudioProxy=false.' This will allow 'Riven' to properly utilize the Quicktime installation.
Do you have all your updates for the OS? I can add some specifics when I get home tonight.
Turns out mine is called Risen. Sorry to bother. You're original post sounded like my complications with this game.

Im not really good with computers, so can i have an easy to understand explaination on how to run Riven on WIndows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit? Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit does not include the built in compatibility feature that the Professional and Ultimate 64 bit versions contain. However, you can buy an 'Anytime upgrade' key for $90 that will allow you to upgrade to the Pro version. That is a lot of money to pay to play one game, I know. If you decide to go this route, you purchase the upgrade key (that is all it is. Just a number) then in Windows 7, you do a search for 'anytime upgrade'. That takes you to the MS website, you enter your upgrade key and download two files: Windows XPMode and a virtual PC file.
Once downloaded, you activate the XPMode file and install it, then run the virtual PC file to set it up. That all goes pretty smoothly. The trick is how you install old software into the virtual PC. You have to do it from within the XPMode. Get a free key seems not allowed here, but you can gain the key with low cost.
I compared about ten online stores, like, and some independent sites, like. You will be assured to purchase from ms online store, but from my once experience, their service it not that good. So I decided not to go there.
The price on ebay and amazon seems a little high. They i google it, and found many sites selling it. It's really hard to recognize which one sells the genuine key.

Therefore, i sent emails to several sites i'm interested. Was the fastest site to reply to my email. And i continued to ask many questions, about the ligelity, payment, guarantee, and refund policy. I was very satisfied with the reply, ps. They gave me 10% discount as i need two, aha. So I decided to try to buy one first to check. In 20 mins, i received my key and download links.
